Why this wine made the cut…
Complex and long with dynamic layers of flavor.
Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
GRAPE VARIETAL(S)
Friuliano
Free-oo-LYA-no
Better known by its former moniker, ‘Tocai Friuliano’, Friuliano is native to Friuli, northern Italy exhibiting a perfume, and pear-like aromas with slight bitter almond notes on the finish. It can greatly range in style from Light and Crisp to more Balance & Finesse or even slightly Rich & Full Palate Characters--the crisp acidity offsets the potential richness.
Sauvignon Blanc
So-vee-NYON BLON
Sauvignon Blanc is grown throughout the world, and can have a wide range of aromas and flavors that vary depending on the terroir. It is most famous for White Bordeaux and the wines of the Loire Valley. The wines are typically Bright & Crisp, dry, and can vary from citrus fruit and pitted fruit, grass, mineral, herbs, and gooseberries. It is versatile with food, pairs particularly well with herbs and garlic, and is most famous for how well it marries with fresh goat cheese.
Pinot Bianco
PEE-no BYAN-co
Pinot Blanc is a creamy, somewhat musky varietal that is mainly grown in Alsace and Germany, but in Northern Italy, it is known as Pinot Bianco and takes on a more zippy personality with notes of citrus and pear. The wines are dry, refreshing and are often blended with other grape varietals adding crisp acidity.

Livio Felluga

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy

The Felluga family are fifth-generation winemakers. Livio Felluga founded his eponymously named winery in the 1950s in Friuli’s rolling hills, helping to carve out a name for quality white wines in the Collio. He passed away in 2016 at 102-years-old, and now his son Andrea and his siblings carry on their father’s legacy.

The Felluga estate is 400 acres with 38 planted to vines on sandy-marl mineral-rich soils. The top cuvée, Abbazia di Rossazzo, is named after a famous abbey in Rosazzo which had longstanding meaning to Livio, who was entrusted with the honor of caring for the Abbey’s vineyards and cellars.

The wines of Livio Felluga are lush, crisp, well-balanced wines with bright fruit, minerality, and floral notes.
