Why this wine made the cut…
Subtlety and complexity is where it lives.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is arguably the most revered grape variety in the world with origins in Burgundy, France where the best expressions can still be found. Pinot Noir is not only a tough grape to grow, it also shows miniscule differences in terroir arguably more than any other grape variety. Stylistically, it is generally higher in acid and lower in tannin but can vary depending on the location, and winemaking technique. It is very versatile with food, and shows a range of flavor from red and black fruit, floral, spice, earth, and mineral qualities.

Thomas Fogarty

Santa cruz mountains

Thomas Fogarty vineyards are situated between 1,650 and 2,000 feet above sea level in the Santa Cruz mountains. These high-altitude, ocean-influenced sites offer a long, cool growing season perfect for pinot noir and chardonnay.

The steep slopes are labor intensive, require hand-harvesting, and have sunny exposures that help imbue just the right amount of phenolic and flavor ripeness. The winemaking respects the terroir by using native yeasts and moderate oak.

The wines of Thomas Fogarty are at once balanced and intense, often defined by a vibrant, energetic personality.
