Barolo

Poderi Aldo Conterno
Barolo, italy
The Conterno estate dates back to the late 19th century, a time when they were generally making bulk wine. As early as 1920, however, Giovanni Conterno became a pioneer as a producer of quality "Reserve” Barolo. In the 1930s Giovanni handed the business over to his son, NAME, who later passed it to his two sons, Giacomo and Aldo.
After a brief stint in the U.S., in 1950 Aldo returned to Italy and worked alongside his brother before ultimately deciding to follow his dream of launching his own label. So he purchased the Favot estate and renamed it, Podere Aldo Conterno. The estate is 25 hectares located in Bussia in Monforte d’Alba. The low-yielding vineyards are made up of several crus positioned 250-400 meters with south and southwest exposures.
The estate is now run by Aldo’s three sons. The wine, especially the Bussia at its best, beautifully balances structure and polish, but does sometimes require patience to show its true potential.
