Why this wine made the cut…
Extroverted California Chardonnay with a deft touch.
Santa Barbara County, California
GRAPE VARIETAL(S)
Chardonnay
100% Shar-do-NAY
Chardonnay may be the most versatile white wine grape, often seen as a blank canvas. It displays various flavors and aromas depending on where it is grown and more specifically, how it is made. It can range in Palate Character from Bright & Crisp to Rich & Full depending on the climate. It is also particularly malleable and highly affected by winemaking choices like as malolactic fermentation, lees stirring, barrel fermentation and ageing practices.

Tyler Winery

Santa barbara county

Justin Willet began Tyler with eight barrels in the corner of Arcadian Winery where, as the assistant winemaker, he learned to make pinot noir and chardonnay as well as to appreciate the potential of the Santa Barbara terroir.

Justin has a talent for finding the best plots that have the right soils, exposure, and cooling effects of the ocean, prioritizing old vines given their innate ability to yield concentrated and complex grapes.

Tyler combines traditional methods with a purposeful approach; grapes are handpicked at night with minimal handling to yield wines of intensity, structure, and nuance.
