Le Vieux Donjon
Founded by Marcel Michel, 1966 was the first year that wines were bottled under the domaine name. Since 1979 Marcel’s son Lucien, and Lucien’s wife Marie José, have run the property along with the third generation of the family, Claire Fabre and her brother François, who joined in 2013.
Vieux Donjon is a traditional-style estate consisting of 18 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. 17 hectares are planted to red grapes, with only one hectare of white grape varieties grown on varied soils and galets.
Vieux Donjon’s red Châteauneuf-du-Papes are tightly wound in their youth, balancing power and finesse, ultimately offering a highly perfumed wine that combines fruit, spice, and garrigue, with both mineral and floral notes.
